Recreating a Scene Shot for Shot
Memento by Christopher Nolan, was lauded by critics for its innovative yet confusing storyline. We ourselves found Memento to be a great source of inspiration for our main production, especially the opening scene, which is all played backwards to mirror the general narrative of the film as it is narrated in flashbacks. In order to achieve a better understanding of how the opening scene was shot, we decided to create a frame for frame remake of it. In terms of style and editing it is a success and we achieved the backwards narrative by simply filming the scene normally and then reversing the shots. however the end result is the same and we have achieved a near perfect remake of Memento and this production has only motivated us further and given us more understanding and inspiration for our main production.
